Animate Engage interactions imported in Storyline 2

Nov 03, 2016

When I do a default animation (in other words, not an animation on a path) to an Engage interaction in Storyline 2, it slides/fades in just fine, but then it disappears as the Engage interaction re-loads once it reaches it's resting position. I assume this has something to do with Storyline substituting the Engage interaction with a still while animated. Is there a way to stop the interaction from disappearing temporarily? It's too jarring to leave in, so I'll just have to not animate it if there's not a fix (which isn't as nice in this presentation). I tried starting the Engage interaction at the beginning of the timeline, and with a 0.5 second delay. I tried the fade in, and the fake in from the right, and the problem happened in both instances.

Can't fake it with a screenshot behind the interaction because this is a template for the client to create additional content.

Thank You

Had to strip out all but some examples of trouble slides, and any client specific information. But here's a much abbreviated sample of the course

Slides 1-2: show the animation I'm trying to do, with and without a .5 second delay. We find that the .5 second delay for content sometimes helps and sometimes hurts. In this case, either way we get the Engage interaction animating in, then disappearing and re-loading.

Slide 3: is just an example without animating the Engage interaction in. This isn't what we want to do, but the best we have it working so far.

Thanks for looking into this!

Hi Bob,

Thanks for sending over your file. I tested it on my end and was able to confirm the behavior you noticed. One workaround you might consider is using slide transitions instead of entrance animations.

I have reported this issue to our QA team for review, and although I am not able to provide a timeframe for resolution, I will be adding your thread to the open ticket. I'll also update here with any new information I receive.

Thank you for the suggestion. I usually animate too many things for transitions to work, so I forget about them. However, there was still a loading issue with the transition screens. I'll keep an eye on this post for future solutions, but remove all animation on Engage slides for the time being.

Thank you so much for your time looking into this!
