When I import PowerPoint charts into Storyline, the charts come in as an image. Is there any way to have the chart elements come in separately so that I can animate them as I can do in PowerPoint? Or do I need to rebuild the elementsin Storyline and animate them?

You can built the elements in SL (unfortunately, no table tools, yet) or you can build in Powerpoint, set the animations, and export it as .mp4.

Currently Storyline doesn't support charts or tables as detailed here, but there are a few options for how to import them in.
