Animation On Placeholder Objects In Master Slide Layout Not Working On Slide

Mar 22, 2015

I have created a maser slide layout with 2 text placeholder and an image      placeholder.  When I create a new slide using this layout, the rest of the animations on the slide work but the ones associated with the placeholders do not.  Is there any way to solve this problem?

Here is the .story file.  Currently only the last slide in the Breed Information section is attempting to use the layout.  When I create a new slide with the Breed layout or try to apply the layout to  an exiting slide the animation does not work for placeholder objects. The desired behavior is for the picture, breed name, and tag-line to fade in.  The other animations are happening.

Hi Alex!

Thank you for sharing your .story file for me to have a look at. I was able to see the behavior that you are reporting and it looks as if this has already been reported to our QA Team and they are looking into this.

I am adding this thread for their reference and flag for update when applicable. In the meantime, I would advise adding the animation to the slide, and not the master at this time.

I am not sure If I am experiencing the same issue or if it's a different issue, but I have been building templates using Master Slides and have applied animations to all my place holder layers, but when I apply the slide format to a new slide, none of my animations and timing is applied. I am attaching screenshots of the master slides vs. the regular slides as a reference. Let me know if you have any questions or if anyone has found a workaround for this issue.

Thank you!

Kristin

I can email you the .story file if you want to take a look at it.

Thank you!

Hi Kristin,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing your screenshots. I'm sorry that the timing of your placeholder text isn't being applied to your slide. We have reported it to our team as a bug, and continue to keep an eye on it to evaluate how many customers are impacted and what impact it has on courses.

However, I wasn't able to replicate the issue of the placeholder animation not being applied. It looks like you're using Storyline 360, is that correct? With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or you’re always welcome to share with our Support Engineers here.

Hello, Kristin!

Thank you for sharing your file with our Support team for testing. I see my teammate, Renz, had a closer look at this behavior and added the animation placeholder detail on this bug's report.

We'll keep you updated on any new developments in both places, in case anyone runs into this problem and finds this discussion!
