Animations

Hello,

I want to create a simple animation which involves moving an image around a page when the user clicks a button. I've not a clue how to go about this, do I need to create it in JavaScript or flash or HTML, which then brings me on to my second question where would be a good place to learn any of those things? Any website offering a basic insight would be great, I've done a quick search but I was bamboozled by a moving box!!

I have a back ground image which I have created and I want the object to move over it.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.
