Announcing Storyline 2 Update 5

May 07, 2015

Hi everyone,

I'm pleased to announce that Storyline 2 Update 5 is now available. This update makes it easier to create accessible e-learning content, improves HTML5 performance, and of course squashes lots of bugs. Read all about it now (or just jump over to the update page).

Enjoy!

I have contacted support. They asked me to uninstall/reinstall. That has not fixed the problem. I have emailed the support engineer, reporting that it did not work. I have also reported additional nuances of this bug: It happens when I use the Duplicate feature and when I resize the text box. I have no resolution at this point.

Ashley,

Incidentally, I haven't updated to 5 but I am experiencing the publishing crash. What is the protocol or steps to "working with support" as you mentioned above?

I would like to work closely with support on this. I have in the past submitted crash logs but don't seem to get a response from the submitted information when a crash pop-up opens in the window within the SL app itself.

Hi Gem,

When you submit crash or error reports from within Storyline itself, those go directly to our QA team to review the information but there is no way for them to followup with you based on that. To have our team investigate your logs and provide solutions directly to you you'll want to reach out to them here - and the first step will be to go through the update 5 process, as the crashing issue is inconsistent and some users have reported good results with Update 5.

After conducting the update, you'll want to try the other steps indicated here, the final one being to pull the crash logs.

The new update 5 broke one of my functionality (that I've found so far) in the 'review' mode of the quiz bank slides.

I put triggers on the Next and Prev buttons that adjust the variable when the user click Next/Prev in the review mode of those quiz. But when I published with update5, only the trigger within Prev works, but NOT in the Next button. The slide still move forward, but didn't trigger the code. (while it still works on the Prev button)

Please help!

For now, I've reverted back to Update 4, and the interaction works again.

Hi Vin,

We'd want to take a look at what you had set up to see how the triggers were created and behaving. If you'd like you can share a copy of the .story file with us here.

Please also confirm that you're working on project files as described here, and you may also want to look at importing this project into a new project as described here.

Thanks... Also mention that 508 applies to HTML5 as well. I think the note I saw says the text sizing only works in Flash output. Hmmm... reminds me to check the tabbing order thing too. I hope that part works in the HTML5 output. The last time I checked, just the general tabbing through the screen items didn't work at all in the HTML5 output.

I know... it's a work in progress. We would still like to sell it to our government customers.

P.S. - The course I just completed was well received. So - we have 1 new happy client! We're hoping to do more courses.

Thanks,
Bob

Since updating I have had a lot of stability issues - storyline keeps hanging and I have to kill the application as well as its processes in order to recover. I also noted that the fonts on by buttons changed sizes. I have opened a support case and  am awaiting response, just wanted others to know that there may be an issue with build 1505-515.

Thanks Ashley, Here is the test file. In the quiz review mode, If you publish with update4, the "QUESTION xx | 6" will track correctly. On the other hand, if you publish with update5, "QUESTION xx | 6" will get stuck at "QUESTION 1 | 6". (PREV button is working fine, but it wouldn't allow to go below "1", but NEXT button won't adjust the +1 value to the variable cq.)
