I'm pleased to announce that Storyline 2 Update 5 is now available. This update makes it easier to create accessible e-learning content, improves HTML5 performance, and of course squashes lots of bugs. Read all about it now (or just jump over to the update page).
Thanks for clarifying. Please let me know how it pans out, since I'm curious to know since you posted you kept experiencing the issue over and over again. :)
Ah, I see. It was over and over with the same file (and all versions of it), so I wonder if it was just an issue from the start and I hadn't tested it until the end. Sorry for any confusion!
And since hundreds of our existing published SL project files all our navigation and quizzes are based on triggers, you can see how it will adversely impact workflow collaboration if we were to just go ahead and upgrade to update 5 with this issue unresolved.
I've had Storyline (latest update) crash unexpectedly over the last 2 days. I'm not publishing, or saving, just working on slides/triggers/feedback layer and "unexpected" crash occurs.
I haven't heard yet of the crash behavior you're describing, but if I remember correctly you were also working with support before using Update 4 in regards to the publishing crash? Have you reached out to share some additional crash logs with them?
I have contacted support. They asked me to uninstall/reinstall. That has not fixed the problem. I have emailed the support engineer, reporting that it did not work. I have also reported additional nuances of this bug: It happens when I use the Duplicate feature and when I resize the text box. I have no resolution at this point.
Incidentally, I haven't updated to 5 but I am experiencing the publishing crash. What is the protocol or steps to "working with support" as you mentioned above?
I would like to work closely with support on this. I have in the past submitted crash logs but don't seem to get a response from the submitted information when a crash pop-up opens in the window within the SL app itself.
When you submit crash or error reports from within Storyline itself, those go directly to our QA team to review the information but there is no way for them to followup with you based on that. To have our team investigate your logs and provide solutions directly to you you'll want to reach out to them here - and the first step will be to go through the update 5 process, as the crashing issue is inconsistent and some users have reported good results with Update 5.
After conducting the update, you'll want to try the other steps indicated here, the final one being to pull the crash logs.
After downloading the update Articulate now tells me I have 30 days left in my trial. I don't have a trial version, but I'd really rather not email someone here for the serial number (I'm not even sure who the right person might be). Any other issues with this? Solutions?
You should be able to click just below that where it says activate with your serial number and it should be pre-populated so that you can continue using your normal license. If you don't see it there, you can reach out to our Support team and they'll be happy to assist.
The new update 5 broke one of my functionality (that I've found so far) in the 'review' mode of the quiz bank slides.
I put triggers on the Next and Prev buttons that adjust the variable when the user click Next/Prev in the review mode of those quiz. But when I published with update5, only the trigger within Prev works, but NOT in the Next button. The slide still move forward, but didn't trigger the code. (while it still works on the Prev button)
Please help!
For now, I've reverted back to Update 4, and the interaction works again.
We'd want to take a look at what you had set up to see how the triggers were created and behaving. If you'd like you can share a copy of the .story file with us here.
Please also confirm that you're working on project files as described here, and you may also want to look at importing this project into a new project as described here.
In your WCAG notes under "1.4.4 Resize Text" you have the Storyline Support column listed as "Supported". I fail to see the option to resize slide text listed anywhere your update notes. Can you clarify?
Thanks! The the chart should technically say "Author Controlled", not "Supported" as it currently says in order to be accurate. I figured that's what it was referencing.
Thanks... Also mention that 508 applies to HTML5 as well. I think the note I saw says the text sizing only works in Flash output. Hmmm... reminds me to check the tabbing order thing too. I hope that part works in the HTML5 output. The last time I checked, just the general tabbing through the screen items didn't work at all in the HTML5 output.
I know... it's a work in progress. We would still like to sell it to our government customers.
P.S. - The course I just completed was well received. So - we have 1 new happy client! We're hoping to do more courses.
Since updating I have had a lot of stability issues - storyline keeps hanging and I have to kill the application as well as its processes in order to recover. I also noted that the fonts on by buttons changed sizes. I have opened a support case and am awaiting response, just wanted others to know that there may be an issue with build 1505-515.
Thanks Ashley, Here is the test file. In the quiz review mode, If you publish with update4, the "QUESTION xx | 6" will track correctly. On the other hand, if you publish with update5, "QUESTION xx | 6" will get stuck at "QUESTION 1 | 6". (PREV button is working fine, but it wouldn't allow to go below "1", but NEXT button won't adjust the +1 value to the variable cq.)

Anyone else experiencing this?
Hi Tracy,

Hi Ashley:
Yes, that correct in that it was occuring during publishing. This is different.
My first thought, always, is it's my work computer. If I experience the behaviour over the next few days I will submit the log.
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for mentioning that you are still actively working with support (00552624). You should be hearing from someone again soon.

Hi Bob,
Slide text slide is author controlled, and that element in our WCAG chart is referring to the player text sizing. Here are directions on how to change that text sizing.
Thanks! The the chart should technically say "Author Controlled", not "Supported" as it currently says in order to be accurate. I figured that's what it was referencing.

I'll pass that message along, Bob.

Nice to hear the font size can now be increased up to 200%. How does it work?
