Any particular setting to avoid a learner from relaunching a course?

Aug 18, 2020

Is there any setting in storyline to stop a learner from re-launching the same course? I have a pre-test that I want the learner to take only once. I have removed the retry quiz option from the SCORM but every time the learner re-launches the course from workday (our LMS), he gets another chance to attempt the test.

I've also reached out to the LMS support to see if this is something which can be attained through a setting there.

Hi Susmita, it sounds to me like this is something that will need to be controlled on the LMS side.

On re-launch, is it a completely fresh attempt (user is not returned to a bookmarked location)? If so, it will definitely have to be controlled by the LMS and I am sure it will be possible for them to remove the module from the learners modules "to do" once they have a completion.

If however, when they re-launch, they are returned to a bookmarked location, you will be able to control this. I'll let you know how if you confirm this is the case.

Hi, Susmita,

In the Other section of the Player Properties, you can set "On restart:" to "Always resume" (as shown in the image below). That means  they won't be given the option to restart the course from the beginning. Instead, when they relaunch it, they'll automatically be returned to where they were when they exited the course. And it sounds like you've got it properly programmed to prevent retaking the pre-test.

I think that should work correctly in any LMS. It's certainly worth a try.  :-)
