Applying an audio voiceover to multiple slides in Storyline

Nov 13, 2013

Ok, I'm probably tackling this the wrong way around - but is it possible to add a narration to an existing set of slides? On the assumption the slides are set to advance automatically and the prev and next buttons are removed. I cant see an obvious way to do this.

Should I actually re-build the slides into one and add the audio to that slide? If I have to record audio slide by slide to the existing slides there's an annoying sound of the recording starting and stopping, which sounds really unprofessional.

What's the best way to approahc this? I have a reasonable quality microphone and a quiet room; it's the technical bit about adding the voiceover I'm interested in getting help with if poss.

Grateful for any ideas / advie.

Thanks

Kev

Audio can't span multiple slides at this point so you need to split up your longer audio track into multiple shorter ones and then insert them into the proper slides. If you set the slides to automatically advance, like you said, and make sure the timeline of each slide is the exact same length as the audio tracks it should work smoothly. By recording longer section and then splitting them up helps make the recording/phrasing sound more natural than stopping and starting with each slide. I've done this many times without an issue. The key is to make sure you don't have any "dead air," i.e. time on the timeline with no audio.

Hope that helps.
