Applying points to the "next" button
Aug 02, 2013
In Storyline, I am working with a branching scenario that has two conversations and four possible paths per conversation. There are two correct paths per conversation. At the end of each of the correct paths is a results slide to review the answers the learner selected to get them to that end point. I need to add point values to the correct paths results slide (50pts for conversation 1 and 50pts for conversation 2, totaling 100pts possible for the module).
I'm wanting to attach the points to the next button on each given correct results slide. So in other words the learner has to make it to the correct results slide, when they click next to move on to conversation 2 it triggers the 50pts. Is this possible, or do someone else have an idea of how to achieve this?
Thanks,
Ryan

You can create a variable that adds your points when the learner clicks on the next button. Then at the end you could display the results for the variable.
John, thank you for your reply. I think we might be on to something here.
What is "show" in your example? (Add 50.00 to show)
"Show" is what I named the variable I created. You just need to create a number varible, and then place a trigger on every slide to adjust the variable by a number when the user clicks the next button.
This is something that I am trying to do as well. I have a variable that is adjusted based on how the user responds to certain challenges. Is there any way to capture the final result as the score of record for the course, which gets communicated to the LMS?
Thanks John for the solution, and Ryan let us know if you need anything else!
Lu - are the challenges set up as quizzes, or in another way? Could you tell us a bit more about how you have it set up and then we can determine the best course of action for you?
