Arabic text formatting in Storyline 360

Oct 03, 2019

Hi,

We are working on an Arabic course in Storyline but are experiencing a lot of text formatting errors. We have used the same font throughout the course (Gotham Book) but it is displaying inconsistently throughout. The Arabic script formats correctly about 90% of the time, but the rest of the time, renders incorrectly. This is only obvious in the exported files and not in preview mode in Storyline. For example, in the screenshot attached, the first image has been distorted from a number to something like “ISORY”, and in the second screenshot, random “Cs” seem to have appeared.

If you have any suggestion as to how we can fix these formatting errors, it would be much appreciated.

Hi there, Hubble. Thanks for those screenshots, and I'm sorry that's happening!

A few questions to help us investigate:

  • It sounds like the text looks correct during Preview. Is the course hosted on a web server or a learning management system?
  • Is this happening on any browser or certain ones?
  • Do you notice a difference if you turn on or turn off Modern Text in the Design > Fonts dropdown menu?
  • Would you mind sharing your .story file for testing? You can send it to our team privately by using this upload link. We'll have a closer look, and delete the file after troubleshooting!
