Are custom seek bars possible?

Oct 30, 2014

I would like to include a seekbar and back/next buttons on a few slides in my course. However, by using the built-in playback features in Storyline, on those slides where I don't want to use these features, the space for these features remains. I thought that I might be able to create custom back/next buttons and a seekbar where the learner could go back to the beginning of the current slide,  using buttons and triggers.

If you have any ideas, I would truly appreciate hearing from you. Thank you!

One of the things I'll do sometimes is float the seekbar below my own custom navigation frame. I color the HTML background and the player so that everything blends together. This way, if the seekbar is gone it doesn't break the balance and the affordance of scrub is pretty clear.

And without the seekbar it still works visually:

Hi Steve,

So sorry for the delayed response. I've been busy working on this file, and just got a break. Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about. If one slide in Storyline requires a seekbar and another slide doesn't, the spacing is still accounted for. The design I'm using has the graphics butting to the bottom of the slide window; as such, the seekbar spacing is still intact. I think I might need to either redesign the screens/buttons, or try to mess around with the SDK info that Leslie gave.

Can't seem to get the insert image working...here's an attachment.

Hi Carol,
I just wanted to reach out in regards to the "insert image" portion - I know we had some difficulty with that when the ELH2 site first launched, but I was told that was all fixed and haven't run into it personally since then. Can you let us know what browser you're using in the forums in case it's something our web team needs to look into specifically for that browser?
