Are variables reset when the module is relaunched?

Sep 05, 2013

I would like to set up modules so that learners have to visit all of the content just once before taking the final assessment. However, once they have visited all of the content  I would like them to be able to access the final assessment without having to visitall of the content again when relaunching the course. Is there any way of achieving this through the available set up options or would this need to be managed using T/F variables, in which case are these reset when the module is next launched?

Hi Nick and welcome to Heroes!

Could you change the slide properties for each slide to "Resume saved state" which will keep the information that they've already seen it? If you'd like to ensure that they view all of a particular slides content before moving on, you may want to look at this tutorial about disabling the next button until they've interacted with everything on a slide.

Hi Bud,

If a user leaves and revisits the course and chooses not to resume, then the user will reset the entire course and all the variables. If they choose to resume, then they'll pick up where they left off including variables - then it'll default to the slide properties so if a slide is set to "resume saved state" and they revisit it the variables will still be tracked. If the slide is set to "reset to initial state" and they revisit it, the variables will be reset as well.
