Articulate 3 support Special Chinese font

Jan 03, 2018

Hi All,

I am writing some e-learning in Chinese by using Articulate 3 recently, as we need to have some special effect, we would like to use some font like CGuYinHK-Bold, MYuenHKS-Xbold etc.

However, once I preview or publish the course, the font change to some normal font. CGuYinHK-Bold, MYuenHKS-Xbold cannot be shown.

Please help, thanks a lot.

Hi Katherine,

Thanks for sharing those case details with me! I see that you worked with Lea back in January, and she logged this issue as a software bug. Our team still has our eyes on this issue, but we haven't released a fix for it yet. Here's an inside look at how we prioritize bugs once we report them.

If there is any forward movement on this issue, we'll be sure to let you know!

Hi Alyssa,

My manager has find out that "Open Type Fonts fail to show correctly while preview and public as SCORM"

Please see whether this finding can help the team to fix this bug.

Below are the information from my manager.

I am using SL3, on Win10 (ver. 1803 17134.376 ). My problem only happen when I use Open Type Fonts (OTF)

During editing, the font selected are showing correctly,

but while preview or publish, it fails.

I have tried:

1. Un/Re install SL3 ( Update 5: 3.5.16548.0 ); 2. Un/Re install all related fonts 3. use "Modern Fonts" as suggested by other post ;

Also attached my story file for reference.

I have a similar issue using Storyline 360.  I started with Arial font and imported the Chinese translation file (Traditional Chinese).  The linguist says the font in the menu works, but not the text on the pages. Why is this? I set the global font to Arial. Then I changed the font on screen to MingLiu_ExtB, but the linguist says it hasn't changed. How does the menu display fonts?

Hi Amy,

Try enabling Modern Text Rendering, and let me know if that makes a difference.

Just open your project, go to the Design tab on the Storyline ribbon, click the Fonts drop-down list, and select Use Modern Text at the bottom of the list. This converts the entire project to modern text all at once.

If that doesn't help, I'd recommend sharing your file with our Support Engineers so they can take a closer look. If that works for you, you can upload your file privately to our team here. We'll give it a test and let you know what we find!
