Articulate 360 Font seriuos Issue

Jun 07, 2018

Hi,

When rendering our modules in IE without using flash as per our client's requirement; the letter "f" is dropped regardless of the font type used and the module is declined by the client.

Please we need a quick solution before losing our clients.

Hi,

Our client uses Internet explorer 11. All of the information we have been able to find (including the information provided by Ashley) is related to an individual trying to solve an issue on their own computer, not a development team trying to solve an issue on a client's intranet or internal browser. We also have no control over their security setting or browser updates.

Screenshots attached are for 2 clients. One uses Gotham Rounded (a purchased font), and the other uses Myriad pro (an adobe font).

We are often faced with clients who either cannot move from Internet explorer, or who don't wish to, due to the magnitude of work involved. Clients also have their own particular branding, so we cannot simply suggest to them to simply change their fonts.

We also faced this issue with our own company font (Avenir). After discussions with technical support, it was clear that there was no intention of making it compatible, and we were forced to change our font when we upgraded all of our content to 360.

We have tried to add code to both the output files and our LMS site (we use Grassblade, Learndash and Wordpress).

Our main concern is that when we migrate more client work from Storyline 2 (flash) to Storyline 360 (html5), this issue is going to continue to occur. This is particuarly concerning as flash is slowly being phased out.

Is it possible that in future Storyline 360 will have the capability to embed text as an image when publishing to html5, as it does in Storyline 2?

Has anyone else come across this issue with client work?

Cheers,

Fiona.

Hi Fiona,

Thanks for replying here and helping out Maysa!

The issue with fonts and how they're displaying in IE11 is something our team is still actively working on, but the steps linked before are good things to review in the interim. You may want to follow along with this post as I've shared recent updates there as our team works on this.
