Articulate 508 compliance

May 24, 2018

Hi,

I need your help to figure out solution to queries mentioned below:

1. Will we need to publish two different courses -one for normal audience and other for 508 compliance or one WBT is sufficient?

2. Are we facing any difficulties to add the text or when we customize the objects on the screen for the screen reader/ Jaws to read it?

3. Which version of Articulate storyline is best for development of 508 compliant course?

You've got some excellent questions, Della!

As you might imagine, the checklist for 508 compliance is pretty lengthy. Thankfully, e-learning tools like Storyline make it easy to ensure that your courses are optimized to meet requirements. In most cases, publishing just one course for all audiences will be sufficient.

Storyline 360 is compliant with Section 508 accessibility guidelines. And since you mentioned screen readers specifically, pop over to this tutorial to see how easy it is to add alt text for screen readers like JAWS.

If you're curious about designing accessible e-learning, these two articles are a great place to start:

I'd also encourage the community to chime in and share their insight. Thanks for starting this important conversation!
