While working on sublayers with a scrolling panel , and on a user request to save, the system report a missing object and refused to save. The user did not save during the day, as Articulate has promised to save on some time based interval. After closing Articulate, the story file as it was 9 hours ago is all that is available.
Is there any auto-recovery files anywhere on the system to allow some sort of recovery?
As I understand it Auto recovery only kicks in IF You have already saved the file once. When SL crashes it will present a message about recovering the file and says to save the file with a new name. If looking - there should be a file with (recovered) in the same location where your initial file was saved.
That specific file was created the previous day and then was saved again at 9:00 in the morning. If you search Windows (Windows 8.1) you can "see" the "original" file at various times, all in the same folder (same name), but if you try to open that, (later time) file, you are opening the one you see in the file explorer. I am trying to find something explaining this Auto Recovery concept.
I'm sorry to hear about the crash you experienced, and Wendy linked to two good resources, but you'll also want to make sure that you're working on project files as described here. Also, auto recovery is only available with Storyline 2.

Thank you for answering

Hi Willem
check out this thread

there is something in here about autosave (about half way down) but it doesn't say anything about having to have saved the file initially
