Articulate Mobile/Articulate Online Reporting Issue

Nov 26, 2013

Hello,

I have been receiving some complaints from users about reports that have been generated by Articulate Online. Some of the programs we publish to Articulate Online (via Storyline) are used by sales reps throughout the country. Some of these sales reps have retailers view our programs on an iPAD (via Articulate Mobile Player app) and the retailers get certifications to sell the products.

We have been experiencing issues with the reporting of guestbook data when multiple users participate in the program from the same iPAD. The issue is this: The guestbook data for the most recent user to take the program on the device is properly reported, but that same information also overwrites the guestbook data for all previous users that have taken the program from that same device. My first thought was that the user or sales rep was just re-running the program from the app's library, but one rep assured me that he was following the link each time and re-entering the next user's information before letting them proceed with the program.

Through this same process, I was able to replicate the issue with a test. I took a program once, filling in the guestbook fields with "test 1." I took the program a second time after re-entering the guestbook information with "test 2" in each field. I then created a test report to see what was in the database. I found that "test 2" was the information reported in both tests. I then took the program a third time, entering "test 3" in all fields. After running another test report, I saw that all previous guestbook data had once again been overwritten with "test 3" in all  fields.

All of the above information leads me to believe that each time a learner takes the same program on the same iPAD device, the latest guestbook information overwrites the guestbook information on all previous attempts, deleting the previous user information from the database. This is problematic for us because the sales reps rely on having all users accurately reported so they may receive a certification that is offered to each user for successful completion of the programs.

Is this a known issue? Is this caused by the way the Articulate Mobile Player and/or the iPAD operating system caches data? Is there a work around? I would think that the Articulate Mobile Player would cache data to improve performance, and if so, is there a way to clear it? I haven't found a way if it is possible.

I would appreciate any help or insight into this issue. Thanks.
