Articulate Mobile Player slow / lag

Feb 19, 2014

Hi,

I've seen lots of threads about people having issues with HTML5 on an iPad (and I have experienced this too), but I am also finding that my articulate storyline courses run very slowly via the articulate mobile player.

So please can someone help specifically regarding the articulate mobile player: For example, when I click the 'next' button it normally takes a few seconds for the next slide to appear (and sometimes it takes even longer) - my users are finding this really frustrating! Has anyone got any good advice to help me here?

Thanks!

Howard

Hi Howard,

Without testing your course myself it's hard to say what could be causing the lag in jumping to a new slide. Are you experiencing the same lag in HTML5 in mobile safari and while testing the content on your laptop/desktop?

Have you been able to test the course on the iPad within different wireless networks to see if that is causing the delay?

If you're able to share the Storyline file and the published course here with us we're happy to take a look. If you'd prefer to share privately, I can send you directions on how to share with me specifically or you're always welcome to connect with our support team.

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for this, yes I get the same HTML5 lag in mobile safari, but it is definitely better on the desktop.

In the meantime I did also get in touch with your support team and John Say has been investigating (and I uploaded my storyline file to him) - it appears that the issue was partly caused by a performance issue on the articulate online servers yesterday (although irrespective of this I always find that the articulate courses run much better on a laptop/pc than they do on an iPad).

It would be good to keep an eye on this because I still think that the articulate storyline performance on an iPad could be improved.

Thanks,

Howard

Thanks Howard for the update, and I see the case you're working on with John Say (# 00385442 for my reference). It looks like there was also an issue with Articulate Online yesterday, but in regards to the content playing slower on the ipad vs. on a desktop, our team is always looking into improvements.

I'll continue to follow along in your case, so please feel free to let John or I know if need anything else.

Hi Fadzil and Muhammad,

Thanks for reaching out here and this thread is a bit older, so I think we'd want to know a bit more about your set up in terms of which update/version of Storyline you're using, and how your testing the content on your iPad (mobile player, HTML5, iOS version, etc.) It may also be something we'd want to take a look at - so can you share a copy of the .story file here or a link to the course that we could test out?
