Articulate module in LMS won't load in IE 9 or 10

Jun 22, 2015

Hey everyone,

So... I am creating modules in Articulate Storyline 2 which we want to upload into our LMS (Learning Seat) for our staff to be able access.

Our issue arises with Internet Explorer 9 & 10.

Articulate publishes the modules to LMS in SCORM 1.2 or 2004, the LMS happily accepts the modules and loads them into the library, however if the user is operating Internet Explorer 9 or 10, when they press 'launch' all they get is a blank window and nothing will load. I've tried removing the option for HTML5 by un-ticking 'Include HTML5 output' in the publish window and still we have the same issue.

The module will has no issue with loading in Chrome or IE 11 , however the majority of our staff operate either IE 9 or 10 and we cannot upgrade everyone at this time, nor will the business support everyone downloading Chrome or FireFox or any other browser.

I need to find an option that will allow the modules to be opened in IE 9 or 10.

Any thoughts?

Hi Keith,

Have you looked to see if there is an issue with the LMS supporting IE 9 or 10? I haven't heard of a widespread outage with accessing Storyline 2 courses through either of those browsers- so you may want to look at testing the course at SCORM Cloud to see how it behaves as that's an industry standard for SCORM testing.

Hi Josie,

This thread is a bit older so I'm not certain that Keith or other users are still subscribed, so you may want to message him directly using the "contact me" button on his profile to reach out.

I haven't seen a lot of discussion here in the forums in regards to Learning Seat, so hopefully if it's an LMS others use, they'll be able to pop in here

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you... In terms of uploading Articualte Storyline 2 modules into Learning Seat's LMS its pretty straight forward.

You just publish it to LMS (I used the option to publish in SCORM 1.2). Once its published you need to ZIP file the whole content of the output file. If you just ZIP file the output file it won't work, you need to open the output file and then ZIP its contents, and make sure that the contents includes an index file otherwise it won't accept it.

Then you just go to Create Learning in the LMS, create a SCORM course and following the steps from there.

Here's something important to note though (and to be fair this is an issue in the LMS, not in Articulate) if you create assessments in Articulate or have data that you want to be able to extract and record in the Learning Transcript - it won't work :(

I found this out the hard way when I had to manually create assessments from 120 training modules each with approx 50 questions instead of being able to dump question banks into an Articulate module and upload it as an assessment. Assessments have to be created manually, entering one question at a time.

Learning Seat's LMS does not have the capacity currently to be able to extract data from externally created modules. It can only extract and therefore report on data from assessments made within their own system. This really limits the effectiveness to some degree because Articulate gives such a wide scope on what you can use to assess someone...

Anywho - I hope that is helpful and yes I do subscribe :) Articualte is AWESOME!!!

Cheers!!!
