Articulate Rise PDF Files

Jul 06, 2022

Good afternoon,

I have recently created a new course call Behavioural Expectations using  Articulate Rise.

Throughout this course, learners are required to click on policies (pdf files) and read them.

When previewing using Articulate Rise, the browser open a new tab and displays the pdf which is the expected behaviour.

Using our LMS, the pdf seems to open in the same tab meaning users must click the back arrow to return to the course. This is causing an issue for our less tech savvy users.

Is there a way to ensure that when users click a PDF inside a published Articulate Rise Scorm file, the browser opens a new tab to displays the pdf?

So this is the feedback from SAP Litmos re this issue.

Upon clicking on the PDF, we could see the content of the PDF which makes it difficult to continue the scorm module as the file is displayed in the current tab instead of a new tab.

Browsers block the file access/download behavior when the request is cross-domain as it is considered a security risk.

However, there is a workaround to this situation, which is to upload the SCORM file as an offline enabled module as Offline scorm modules don't have a redirect. You can find this offline option at the time of creating a new scorm module within the course.

Note: SCORM Offline is only available for SCORM version 1.2
I could see the file that you shared is governed by SCORM 2004 4th edition

I can publish to Scorm 1.2 OK but Rise does not seem to have an option to publish to Scorm 1.2 and as an offline enabled module.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.
