Articulate Storyline 2 publishing to web : help!

Dec 18, 2015

In Articulate Storyline, I'm finding that when I publish the files for CD, Web and LMS, the external documents appear in an 'external documents' folder withing the published file folder structure.

When I launch the file locally (where the external documents live) the links work fine. When I launch it from another computer, or in this case when the client opens it, the links no longer work. Even though the files are there, it seems that the actual link to the document has been lost.

I have read a lot about this issue being a Flash Player Security restriction. When running locally, by default, the Flash player blocks any communication with the browser. Publishing the course to CD and running the course using the exe seems to be the solution. Does this sound familiar? Do you have any experience publishing for web or cd and having the links work as they should?

Hi Anna!

Yes, be sure to upload to the intended environment and test as your learner would.

If you view an Articulate Storyline course on your local hard drive (or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive), you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features to fail. To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. See this article for details.
