Articulate Storyline 2 Slider Interactions Not Working - Same Versions of Chrome on Different Computers
May 09, 2018
Hi there,
I have been looking for a solution to this issue for sometime with no clear fix. I have worked with Sliders in Articulate 2 for sometime now, however we are beginning to experience more and more issues with compatibility across products.
My course has several sliders at various points, these function as expected within Storyline 2 (preview), they also work great on my PC running the latest version of Chrome (Version 66.0.3359.139 (Official Build) (64-bit)) by running the HTML5 file.
However on my clients PC these sliders have no interactivity and cannot be moved at all. They use the same file and version of Chrome and the OS is the same.
I would really appreciate any feedback on why this is not working. I have seen articles suggesting that publishing in Storyline 3 fixes the problem, however I do not believe an updated version should be required for features in an older version to work.

Hi Stuart. It sounds like on you clients' computers, those sliders are malfunctioning. I've got a few questions to help troubleshoot:
Happy to help!
Hi Crystal,
Indeed I've replicated this on some PCs and not others so its quite hard to find a consistent pattern for why they do not work as expected.
Currently the course is being published for LMS and the story_html5 file is run from the output which launches in the browser/web environment. Typically this is launching in Chrome as I believe that is Articulates recommendation and also our clients preference.
I've not tested this file in other browsers as per the detail above (Articulate recommends Chrome so it should surely be the best browser for viewing/accessing content and Chrome is our clients preference)
I have attached an extract of one of the slider pages below, please let me know if you need more detail.
Kind Regards

I saw this with a client and it didnt matter what we did in SL2 we could not get the sliders to work. I could download VMs to match the clients setup and never had a problem. The only fix we had was to upgrade the courses to 360.
Hey Stuart and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
Thanks for sharing a sample so that we could take a look.
Of course, I'm unable to replicate the behavior you are reporting.
Curious if your customers experiencing difficulty can utilize this link as expected? Or is the issue only happening within your LMS environment?
Hi Leslie,
Thanks for this detail.
The issues I've had with this have also been replicated in the link which you have provided. I have tested this on my desktop (Works as expected) and my laptop which is replicating the fault. It is still not working through your link.
Kind Regards
Hi Stuart,
I also tested Leslie's link in Chrome, and it worked normally for me as well. Do you know what versions of Chrome you and your users are testing it on? I'm on the latest version which is 66.0.3359.18.
So we should just assume that SL2 Sliders will not work in Chrome, ever?
Hey Teresa,
We were unable to replicate this issue previously, but we do now have an open issue with our team specific to SL2 and Chrome 69.0.3497.92.
I'm adding this conversation to the report so that we can continue to track examples and update you here when we can.
