Articulate Storyline 2: Visited State Behavior

Jan 11, 2017

Hi All,

I've got a challenge with the visited state in one of my courses.

Before anyone asks: I'm working 100% locally on my local C:\ Drive.

When I preview the slide, it behaves like so:

https://www.screencast.com/t/4QNTfMxl3r4

  1. When you click one of the buttons, it reveals a new layer
  2. When you click the red "X", it closes the new layer
  3. The button is now in the grey visited state on the base layer

However, this is not the case when I publish to web as HTML5:

When I run the published slide, it behaves like so:

1. When you click on one of the buttons it reveals a new layer

2. When you click the red "X", it closes the new layer

3. The button is still in the colored normal state on the base layer

4. When you go back and then go forward, the button is now in the grey visited state on the base layer

I've tested this several times, and every time it behaves the same way - it is only happening on this slide and I can't figure out why.

Any ideas?

Hi Martin

I'm not seeing that behaviour. I previewed (see attached video) and it works as expected - viewing in Chrome.

I published to LMS uploaded to Scormcloud viewed in Chrome - again it is working as expected.  You can test it here

Sorry you had the publish set to LMS so that's how I published - just re-read and you have issue with html5 output - checking that now.

Update: yes I see the same behaviour - the states are not changing to visited

Hi Wendy,

I ended up changing up the visited state for a custom one, and then creating a trigger for the new state linked to showing a new layer when the icon is clicked.  However, this time, when I clicked on the published output - the icon disappeared completely!  I fixed it by moving the trigger to change the state above the trigger to show the layer and that fixed it.

I'm guessing the issue with the visited state is something similar, only operating behind the scenes where we can't touch it.

Thanks for the help!
