Articulate Storyline (administrator

Feb 06, 2013

I am trying to help a coworker with a project and when I open the storyline project she gave me, I have the name of the project, then it says Articulate Storyline (Administrator).  I am not able to do anything in the project including not being able to close it.

What does this mean?

Hi Tracy,

Where is the file located? Is it on your hard drive? If you can, locate the file (within a directory/folder) and try to right-click on the project file. Click on "Properties" and then the "Security" tab. Let me know what options you see here.

If you're not able to access this information for the file, your coworker may need to check the permissions on her machine, or try re-sending it.

Thanks!

Hi Tracy,

No problem! That last post worked just fine Unfortunately, though I think there may be some permissions/accounts missing there. I'm guessing Kim is the coworker that's trying to share the file? Normally, you'd see "Users" listed here - at least, that's what I'm used to seeing for the settings here.

There may be different settings for each member listed there. SYSTEM is the one that's highlighted, if you move down "Kim" and "Administrators" will probably have different permissions. Do you know if your user account has administrative privileges? If not, you may want to speak to your IT department (if you have access to one).

If you'd like to try sharing the file here, I can also try to open it. You're also welcome to send it directly to our support department, maybe they can confirm what I'm seeing, or provide some additional information.

Thanks Tracy!

Hi Li,

I haven't heard of that type of conflict on a Mac/PC environment and I don't think that environment would cause an issue with permissions or seeing the files as being shared. If it is an issue with permissions, it (I believe) would only be related to the Windows installation through the Parallels. You may want to go ahead and contact our support team, so we can see what's causing the issue.
