Articulate Storyline has stopped working - Screen Recording

Apr 09, 2014

Hi guys

Our company laptops recently got upgraded to Windows 7 (No admin rights). IT re-installed SL with no issues. However I attempted to do a screen recording and I get the error below everytime I click 'Done'.

IT have re-installed again, its running from C drive and they even changed the permissions to the Articulate folder in C drive (Full access) and did the same to c/TEMP as well.

The screen recordings were working fine pre Windows 7 upgrade ( I did have admin rights then).

Any ideas?

Clay

Thanks for your reply Ashley!

We followed those steps and managed to remove the recording issue .. So thanks for that!

But we seemed to have ucovered a few other problems:

  • If i create a new slide (either from the menu or right click) I get the same error as above and SL closes
  • If i package any module as SCORM 2004 (any version) I get an error when testing on SCORM Cloud and the module wont work on CSOD - ('An invalid Mastery Score was detected. The value ' ' could not be converted to a double. ') I tried this but i dont use a quiz - its slides viewed.

The IT team and I are continuing to try things but do you have any other suggestions?

Sorry to be a pain

Cheers

Hi Clay,

Ashley it out of the office today, so I thought I'd stop by and see if I could be of some assistance.

I'm glad to hear that the issues with recording have been resolved!

You mentioned initially that you originally had administrative rights on the machine, but that this is no longer the case. How are you currently launching Storyline when you see the errors and crashing? If you haven't already, please try launching Storyline as an administrator by right-clicking the short cut and selecting "Run as administrator" - if your profile is completely locked down, your IT team may need to assist with this.

Another option would be to have your IT team create a new profile, with admin rights, and see if the same thing happens. They could also try testing with the admin profile to see if there's a difference in behavior.

Also, make sure that all of the steps in the article you followed earlier are completed. It may be a tedious process, but it will ensure everything that's needed to run in the background is successfully installed on the machine.

Another thing - does this seem to be specific to a project file, or do you still experience crashing and errors in a brand new project?

Best,

Christine
