Articulate Storyline SCORM course does not resize properly on iPad

Jun 18, 2014

Hello.  One of my clients brought to my attention an issue she was having when viewing a course via iPad.  It displays fine in portrait mode, but when she turns the iPad to landscape, the size of the course window distorts, causing part of the screen to be cut off.  The course window is very large, and the navigation buttons cannot be seen.

The course was built in Storyline and published for SCORM 1.2.  The client accesses it through my company's LMS.   I am experiencing the same issues on my iPad, which runs iOS 7.1.1

What is really peculiar is that this issue occurs ONLY on the SCORM version of the course.  Is the SCORM version somehow affecting the player settings?  I tried publishing as non-SCORM, and it worked just fine.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?  Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks in advance,

Shannon

Hi, Alex,

Thank you for your input.  The client is viewing the course via my company's proprietary LMS.  Our LMS does not have any SCORM size property settings; it displays courses at the size specified within the course settings.  If for some reason there is no size specified, the LMS displays the course at 800 pixels by 600 pixels.  I'm thinking it has something to do with Articulate and not my LMS.  Do you have any other thoughts on this?

Thanks again for your reply!

Hi Shannon,

Just curious - have you tried testing your course in SCORM, but outside of the LMS?

For example, you could use SCORM Cloud for your course - it's a great place to test SCORM content.

You're always welcome to try out Articulate Online, as well - it's available for a free 30 day trial.

It may just help to know whether or not the display issue is specific to the server.

If you're able to, you're welcome to share the .story file for the project. We could take a look and see what's happening.

Thanks!

For iPad (iOS device), the Storyline (Moodle - Scorm package) is still display out of the iPad screen when it is in Landscape view. No problem for the portrait view.

Whenever flip the iPad into portrait view, the content is fit well in the center of the iPad screen, but for landscape, the Scorm activity is just too big which cut-off half of the right content of the activity.

This Moodle Problem has been found in many many post, known as 2.6 & 2.7 problem.

Official Moodle discussed:

There was no problem at all when we using the Moodle 2.1 & Storyline - Version 5, the problem comes out when we upgraded to Moodle 2.7 right now.

I cannot conclude whether it is problem on Moodle upgrade or Articulate response or even Apple iOS upgrade problem. Hope each of us can give the effort to fix it soon.
