Articulate Storyline Screen recording went astray

Dec 16, 2013

Dear all,

I was making a screen recording that lasted more than half an hour I think and when it was time to stop the recording I forgot what key to press. I tried several things, even tried the icon on the tray but it got messy and that didn't work. I ended up trying the keyboard shortcut Fn+Esc which led me to sleep mode. On waking from wake I couldn't find anything at all. After that I just restarted my cpu because I had to.

Any chance of recovering the file of the screen recording ? Where would it be stored (Windows 7 user) ? Even if I can't retrieve it, I want to make sure that there isn't a useless 16go video file sitting in some hidden place of my cpu...

Can I please request your help on this ?

Hi Fabrice,

Were you recording in a full screen mode? You'll want to just press "Escape" when done to exit the recording.

If Storyline finished the recording, and ended it you'd likely be able to find it within the actual Storyline file you were working on. You'd either see it on the slides, or if you go up to Insert Screen Recording and click the little arrow, you'll see all screen recording within that project.

If you cancelled out of the screen recording (which sounds like what may have happened) it wouldn't save the recording, and shouldn't be anywhere on your computer.
