I am currently using an articualte storyline version 3, if i update my articulate storyline file to version 4 could i be able to work with the file which is previously developed in version 3.
It looks like Simon has you covered here! Also, if you're feeling particularly cautious, you could always save a duplicate copy of your Storyline file before moving to update 4 and that way if something does happen, and you choose to not use update 4 on that project you'll be able to revert to the back up version.

Yes, you'll be able to open older files. You might sometimes encounter a bit of weirdness if you do the opposite, ie open a v4 file in v3 or older.
