Articulate trial not working in my windows 8

Dec 10, 2014

Hello,

I have a small issue while running Storyline 2 in my windows 8 pc just now. It said that "Flash Player 10 or higher for Internet Explorer is required to run AS"  I tried to update and download whatever is needed, however, the flash player is a built-in feature in internet explorer in windows 8. I made sure that flash player is enabled in both my IE and Chrome(my default). even tried another way to download a flash player 16. but AS is still not working, and keeps telling me the same thing. Anyone here had the same problem before?

Thank you

Hi Zoe,

Sorry you've run into this too - and just for our official response I wanted to include it here:

Hi Everyone,

Adobe released Adobe Flash Player 16 on December 9, 2014 and, as a result, Articulate Storyline won’t open. Published content isn’t impacted.

We’re working fast and furiously to fix the issue and will release updates for Storyline 1 and Storyline 2 as soon as humanly possible.

In the meantime, you can open Storyline if you uninstall Flash Player 16 then install Flash Player 15 instead.

Stay tuned,

Hi Martin,

Nice to see you again - although wish it were under better circumstances! I actually just hit this error myself and had to go through some different steps than those mentioned above on my Windows 8.1 set up. I've copied them below:

Follow these steps to uninstall Update KB3008925 for Microsoft Windows:

1. Press Windows Key+X on your keyboard to display the Tools Menu, and select Programs and Features. Or, right-click the lower left corner of your monitor to display the Tools Menu, and select Programs and Features.

2. Click "View installed updates" in the left navigation pane.

3. Type KB3008925 into the search field in the upper right corner of the window.

4. Select Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3008925) from the search results.

5. Click Uninstall at the top of the list.

6. Click Yes when you're prompted to confirm your request.

7. Restart your computer.

If you're not an administrator on your system you may need those privileges to conduct the uninstall.

Hey Zoe, Can you provide instructions for those of us on Windows 7?

I found the following tech note:  http://www.articulate.com/support/storyline-2/articulate-storyline-doesnt-recognize-flash-player-16-sl2  which has a working link to the Flash 15 installer.   Upon trying to install it, I ran into the same error message the tech note said I would.  However, KB3008925 is no where to be found.  Would I be correct in assuming it might be a different update number for those of us on Windows 7?

Please advise.  Thanks!

Mike

PS - I'm using Storyline 1, in case that has anything to do with it.

I should clarify that I"m installing Storyline onto my brand new computer that I purchased for just this reason, so I'm migrating my existing Storyline 1 application over from the old to the new computer.  Apparently my serial number doesn't work for Storyline 2 or I'd use the new update just released moments ago.

Please advise as to what those of us still using Storyline 1 should do at this point.  Thanks.

Hi Mike,

Storyline 2 is a different product than Storyline 1, so you would need to purchase an upgrade and then receive a new serial number.

Our team is continuing to work on this issue for Storyline 1 and other Articulate products and we'll share information here as it becomes available and in this other thread where you're working with Emily.

Thanks for this.  I used this to resolve the same issue for a user of mine today.  By the way, it worked after the uninstall without rebooting the PC...FYI.

Hi Marianne,

If you're having difficulty inst alling the trial are you receiving an error message or something similar? We updated Storyline 2 to deal with some issues associated with Flash player 16, so you shouldn't need to uninstall the Flash update (what the above comment is referencing in terms of the Microsoft KB update) but you'll want to ensure you're using the latest download link from here.

If you're still having difficulty it may be easier to troubleshoot this directly with our support engineers here.
