artifacting at bottom of png or jpeg images
Feb 13, 2014
This problem is coming up with some images in my courses. Be it a png or jpeg, a line of artifacting pixels appears at the bottom edge of the image area when previewed and when published. The image usually has white space around it, and the artifacts appear where that bottom white edge of the image meets the SL screen area. Have tried many things to prevent this, but it seems to be random. Have had to add a white filled shape to cover these artifacts in order to hide it from view. Any clues or solutions? Thanks.

Hi Richard,
I haven't seen this in my own Storyline files, would you be able to share an example with us here? If so, please share the Storyline file with the elements inserted and a standalone image as well.
Hi I have exactly the same issue with some buttons that are white at the bottom saved as PNG files, each time you visit a page the artefacts are slightly different but always the same colour as the top of the image ? about 3 pixels high
Thanks
Here a example screen grab - look at the bottom of the buttons
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the images - are you able to share the Storyline file with us (or even that one slide) as I'd like to see how it's set up and appearing. I'm not able to replicate this on my own files with pngs. Also please let us know where you're viewing that slide and seeing the behavior (browser, LMS vs. web, etc.)
Hi it's in windows 7 - ie and firefox if you take a look at the bottom of the 4 buttons in the attached slide you will see the artefacts.
Is this what it should look like? I'm not able to replicate the artifacting (but I'm on XP not 7).
Hi just done a test and if you replace the PNG's (24 bit) with gif's then the artefacts go away.
I yes but you only see the artefacts when previewing and rolling over a button - Will try on a different computer too.
I have also found that the only way around this issue is to use png 24's as the default image type to import.
Hi Steve,
Thanks for sharing the file - I didn't see any artifacting of those buttons while previewing or when I published it here to my Articulate Online account and viewed it in Chrome, Firefox and IE11.
