Assessment branching

Apr 06, 2022

Hi Support Team,

I'm working on an assessment module for employees who have slightly different contractual agreements. For example there are 10 questions - nine apply to all employees however one question is about work hours. The correct response to this question will vary depending if you are from 'group A' or 'group B'.  I know you can branch out depending on feedback responses however  this is a little different. Your thoughts please. Thank you, Nerina

Hi Matthew, I appreciate your prompt response. The assessment module will be assigned to an audience for all employees, via our LMS. Reference to  group "A" and "B" was used to indicate why one question needs to be presented twice, however worded slightly different (I'm not sure if that makes sense).  I'm not confident using a variable as advised is the right way to go about it.  Basically, how do I present the same question, worded slightly different, within an assessment without having to create a big heading that says "ONLY ANWER THIS QUESTION IF YOU WORK AT HEAD OFFICE" or "ONLY ANSWER THIS QUESTION IF YOU WORK AT THE WAREHOUSE".

Thank you

Hi, Nerina.

While others in the community might be better at giving you design recommendations for your project, my suggestion would be the same as Matthew's above:

  • Create an initial slide that asks which group they're in.

  • The option selected adjusts a variable called "workLocation".
  • Show the learner all the questions that apply to both groups.
  • On the last question, instead of jumping to the next slide from the feedback layers, branch to question A or question B depending on the value of the workLocation variable:

  • On your Results slide, include all the question slides, but check the box to only score viewed questions:

I hope this helps!
