Assessment Lock-Down

Feb 24, 2017

Hello there,

I wanted to post to confirm something about assessments. Say a user completes several questions, and results in a failing grade on the results slide. They are given the opportunity to retry the quiz, but instead, theĀ user leaves the assessment by either exiting the course or uses a link to return back to the beginning of the course.

Upon returning to the assessment, all of the assessment questions are in review mode. None of the question options are able to be selected but the user may navigate using the interface next and back buttons. Is it the defaultĀ behavior in Storyline to place these questions in review mode? Is Storyline waiting until the user specifically tells the assessment to reset the results the retry the quiz?

Thank you for your time in advance!

Hi Joseph

on the result slide when you add a Retry Quiz button there needs to be a trigger that resets the quiz results to 0 and a following trigger to jump to the first quiz slide so the user can start again . if your user is getting to click the Retry quiz button or is exiting at that point, the triggers will not fire and the results won't be reset.

The Quiz slides themselves should be set to 'automatically decide'.

Thank you very much Wendy. Because the user is able to leave the final assessment after failing, I've implemented a variable that sets itself to true if the user fails the assessment. Then when returning to the final assessment while it is in review mode, the assessment results immediately reset before beginning the assessment. This seems to be a workaround for avoiding the review mode again.
