Assessment Resumption

Hi all,

I develop my modules with assessments drawn from Question Banks. The slide master has a trigger to add 1 to a 'Question Number' variable so that the title reads Question 1,2,3 etc.

I'd like to update my modules to enable users to come out of the assessment to view other sections, if say they needed to refresh knowledge before answering. When coming back into the assessment however, the 'Question Number' variable is triggered repeatedly:

e.g. User gets to Question 5 and is unable to answer, uses the menu to navigate to the slide containing the answer, revisits the assessment only for Question 5 to now be titled Question 6.

Can anyone suggest a logical solution whereby the variable is only triggered once on first view?

Many thanks

Hi Gareth,

You need to reset your variables when refreshing knowledge before answering.

My idea is like this.

- Add a variable vQuestionCounter

- On every Quiz Slide, add a trigger
Add 1 to vQuestionCounter When timeline starts

if you have Retry, set the variable vQuestionCounter equal to 0.
if you want to skip taking the quiz, you must reset the variable vQuestionCounter  equal to 0 before jumping to any slide.

I am happy to check your file if you can attach it here.

Hi Gareth,

I think it is better to create new one than to use your structure.
But I managed to make it work using your style.

I am sure, there is a better way of doing this. I don't recommend using the Slide Master because of limited event like when timeline starts. Slide Master will only trigger When Timeline start once.

Please see the attached updated file.

Hope this will help you.

Further update:

QBLock seems to work okay accept when reviewing when QNum isn't triggered for some reason.

A more fundamental issue exists in that when I go to Refresh Knowledge and return to 'resume assessment', the assessment resumes with the correct question number, but the Draw from QB seems to have reset in that I still have to complete a further 7 questions regardless of which number I'm up to initially.

That's great Daniel, thanks ever so much for your help, it's much appreciated.

I notice that slides are going blank when pressing 'prev' in review, also the latter issue from my previous post remains - I'm going to try to tackle this first.

I went the way of Slide Masters as I have to turn these sorts of assessments out regularly and was looking for a way to streamline production.

I'll keep plugging away at it.

Thanks again

That was my mistake. With your help I've managed to get the numbering working as desired, particularly in review.

I still am left with the problem of how to return to the last question having left the assessment temporarily.

Frustratingly, our LMS doesn't allow for resuming once the module is closed but this would've gone some way to appeasing my clients.
