Assessment score not being saved when user exits course

Sep 28, 2017

Hello,

I have created an assessment bank where the user will be given 10 random questions, but if they exit and re-enter the course then their score hasn't been saved.

Example - The user answers the first three questions correctly then exits the course on question four. When they re-enter the course their progress has been bookmarked and they return where they left off on question four. However their score from the previous three questions hasn't been saved and will start back at 0%. So now the user can only score a maximum of 70% after completing the final seven questions.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hey Rob, I'm sorry that's happening. That's definitely not what we'd expect, and I'm happy to help you troubleshoot. I have a few questions to start:

  • What version of Storyline did you use to build the course?
  • Is the course hosted on a learning management system?
  • Does this happen in any web browser, or certain web browsers in particular?

Hey Rob,

I checked in on your case this morning, and it looks like Abel identified the problem as a software bug. It appears that the quiz score resets to 0% on resume when the revisiting setting of the question slides in a question bank is "Reset to initial state". A workaround would be to use the "Automatically decide" setting instead.

We'll be sure to reach out to you if we get any more information on this bug. Thanks again for bringing this up to us, and I'm really sorry it's slowing you down.
