The scores are getting reset when the user is re-attempting the course. However if the user closes the window and re-attempts the module. The old score is saved. Even if the user takes the assessment again and the assessment is cleared, still the old data is getting saved.
You'd also want to make sure there is a "Reset Results" and/or "Restart Course" trigger in the course!

Have you set the slides to "Reset to initial state?"
