Hi Lisa! In Storyline assessments and quizzes are the same thing. What makes them one vs the other is really just how you design it. For example, for a formal certification assessment I would probably design it as a stand alone interaction in my LMS, with instructions for pass/fail, remediation, etc. A quiz would probably look more like a few questions sprinkled in throughout or at the end of a larger course.
As far as reporting in CSOD, hopefully there is someone here that can speak specifically to reporting in that LMS, but I can tell you that Storyline sends the quiz data to your LMS. It's just a matter of how easily you can get to it with reporting.
