Is there any way to control how attachments pop up in a course? Ours work just fine but I would prefer they pop up in a child window so the learner can see the course and also review the attachment then return to the course easily. Ours pops up, obliterates the course and when the learner closes the attachment, loses the course.
this information does not work for me when adding attachments. I do not get the trigger dialog box to appear in any information about attachments. What am I missing?
Are you using Storyline 1 or Storyline 2? How are you trying to add attachments to your course? Right on the slide as a link or as a part of the resources tab? This thread is a bit older, so it'll be most helpful if you can describe exactly what you'd like to do and how you're trying to set it up.
I realize it's an old thread. Honestly I don't know if I have Storyline 1 or 2. I think my version is maybe too old!
I have added an attachment with the "Attachments" option. When it is opened by the learner it opens in the same window and when it is closed, the program closes. I would like it to open in a new window if possible, but don't see any option to make that happen.
First I wanted to let you know that responding via email includes your signature here, so if you don't want the personal information displayed you can visit the forum page to edit the post and remove it.
Could you share a screenshot of how/where you're adding the attachment? That'll help me know what version you're using and offer directions from there. It may also be that the browser your users is accessing it through is forcing items to open in the same window ? Have you tried a few different browsers to see if it's consistent?
First issue is you're in Studio '09, not Storyline. :)
There is a good video here on how to add attachments and here with the two different ways. Studio 09 doesn't have an option to choose how it'll open, so it'll work within the player set up or rely on browser settings.
Also, I saw you were linking to a file on your Y drive, and we typically recommend working locally (typically your C drive) as described here.

You can set attachments/URLs to open in the same window or a new window:
Hi Jan and welcome to Heroes!
It looks like Brett has you covered here, but I also wanted to point you to a tutorial on working with hyperlinks in Storyline.

thanks for letting me know about the signature!
I am attaching screen shots - of the articulate screen and then what appears when I click the attachments option.
Thanks Rhoda -

Thanks - I probably need to get upgraded to Storyline! I appreciate your assistance.
Or Studio 13? You may want to take a look at the comparison chart of Studio '09 and Studio '13, and then Studio '13 vs. Storyline 2.
Also, feel free to connect with our Success team - they'll be happy to talk through the options and what may work best for you!
