audio and interactive screens

Oct 02, 2014

I have screens with several interactive buttons -- each their own layer with audio. They all function properly when they are  only clicked once, but if they are clicked more than that things get ugly -- audio doesn't work and the back button disappears. Is there any way to stabilize these interactive buttons?

I tried uploading the file twice but received error messages both times.

Hi Deb,

Sorry that the file wouldn't upload for you - it's likely too large for the forums as there is about a 20 mb limit for forum uploads. Could you try stripping it down to a few slides that demonstrate the behavior?

Have you looked into the slides' revisiting properties and the layer revisiting properties?

This course does not register complete on our LMS -- I also tried it on Scorm Cloud and had the same problem (although they said the manifest looked great), I have compared this to other courses that launch successfully and cannot figure out what the problem is. Can you please look at it? Thanks.

Hi Deb,

There was some issues with the upgrade to ELH2 for files that had been loading up during that time period, so it may have fallen into that category.

Thanks for attaching your published output - but I'll need to take a look at the .story file to see all the publish settings and information. Can you attach that one here?

Hi Ashley -- I sent the file over the e-learning heroes website. I think
it may be too large for email.

Hi Deb, I took a look at your file and I think all you have to do to get it to work correctly is change the property settings on the  base slide "Our Framework for Growth" slide to reset to initial state.

There are a couple of other things you might consider doing as well.

  1. On the layer slides, change the property settings to "Pause timeline base" - this will stop the audio on the base slide to from continuing to play if the user access a layer before the audio is finished.
  2. You have a whole lot of triggers set to hide buttons and text boxes. You did not mention what you are trying to achieve with this and most of them have unassigned conditions so it is hard to tell.  I am also not sure why you are placing text boxes over the buttons. If you add the text directly to the button, you would not need extra triggers to hide the text.

Hi Deb,

I'm glad Nancy was able to assist you with that part - and in regards to the completion element, I see that you're tracking by slides viewed and set it to a total of 17 out of 17 slides - but when going through your course,  you never navigate to the slides in the scene 2 "Carestream-Master-Presentation-Template-20130101" but those are being included in your count. You'll want to either remove those slides from the file before publishing, so that it'll change the tracking method to 13 out of 13 slides, or change the tracking method manually to 13 out of 17 slides.

Hope that helps and please let us know if you need anything else!

Thank you Ashley -- I believe that must be the problem!
