Audio breaks for fraction of a second when changing the slide

Dec 03, 2014

I have a powerpoint presentation.

I imported a single voiceover file (with loop music in beginning & end) across entire presentation (in presenter '13)

Then through audio editor I defined slide transitions. (And then synced animations). I did this in Presenter '13 and then imported presentation to storyilne.

First four slides have continuous loop Music, which eventually fades and then voice over starts.

My problem is that when I publish it from Storyline and play the published presentation, during first 4 slides during each slide transition, audio breaks for fraction of a second and then continues. This happens for each of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th slide.

After first 4 slides, I have no problem since voiceover pauses for a second between slides.

Can you kindly help me fix this problem? All I want is continuous Audio in its original form without any breaks.

Thanks Ashley for your response.

I thought this is a known issue and there should be some workaround already available.

I have attached a test storyline project and published output herewith.

Audio breaks each time the slide changes.

To my opinion, audio should flow as it would play in its original MP3 form on any of the player and slide transition shouldn't affect the audio to break.

Kindly let me know how can this be fixed?

Hi Sam,

I'm not sure which "known issue" you're referring to, but as I mentioned Storyline doesn't allow for background music or playlists.  There are a few methods to allow you to split an audio file across multiple slides as described here. There are also some community forum threads where users discuss ways to create "background music" such as this one.

Hi Sam,

I don't know the reasoning behind why it was developed that way, and not being a programmer myself I wouldn't even know where to begin to speculate - but I know other users have requested the playlist feature of Presenter also be included in Storyline. You're welcome to share your thoughts as well by submitting a feature request here.
