We came across this issue when the slide is running with audio and animation and if the user clicks on a new window, tab of a browser the audio continues to play but the timeline stops while the focus is out from the window the module is running. When the user comes back to the window, tab where the module is running the timeline resumes but now the audio and animation are out of synch. Has anyone come across this problem before and if there is anyway to resolve it?
We observed this on storyline 2 and 360 has the same issue.
Thanks for reaching out here, and we're seeing the same thing in Storyline 360. We've found this only happens in the HTML5 output, so the workaround would be to use the Flash output until a fix is released.
I'll tag this thread to be updated as soon as we get more information. Thanks again for letting us know what's going on, and I'm sorry it's giving you headaches!
We just did a quick test as we don't want to rule out any possibility of this working. So we created a flash only output and uploaded to scormcloud . I have attached the error message I got. This clearly indicates that flash is not a reliable solution anymore.
We look forward to your advise as our clients are not very happy about it at the moment.
I hear you, and I completely understand Flash not being a viable workaround since it is being blocked by many web browsers. I brought up this issue to my team again today, and we've prioritized it because we know it's causing a lot of frustration for you and your clients.
I really appreciate you sticking with us on this, and I'll certainly keep you informed with any new information I receive.
When you have a PDF file in the Resources, and the student clicks it, it opens in a new tab. This means that just about anyone using the Resources functionality of Storyline 3 will cause this problem for their students.
Any news on when this will be updated in Storyline 3?
Great news! We just released Update 3 for Storyline 3. This includes quite a few important fixes and some new features as well. Check out all the details in the release notes here.
The item you'll be interested in is:
Audio continued to play in HTML5 output when switching to another browser tab, causing animations to become unsynchronized.
