Audio control when opening another window/tab

Jun 07, 2017

I used Storyline 2 to make some online learning courses. After publishing these courses, if I want to have the users to click a link to open a new browser window (or tab), right now, the audio and timeline in the presentation stops while they view the page. When they come back to the presentation, the audio and timeline resumes automatically.

Now I upgraded to Storyline 3 for a few weeks. I created another course and then did the same thing. This time the timeline stops, but not the audio. So when the user comes back to the presentation, the timeline resumes, but because the audio didn't stop, the timings are all screwed up.

Please help! If this is a bug from the Storyline upgrade, is there anyway to get around it?

Hi Chen,

Thanks for reaching out here in ELH. What you're describing is an issue we've seen with Storyline 3, and it's specific to the HTML5 output. Is that where you're seeing it as well?

We've got this reported as a possible software bug. From here, I’ll meet with my team to take a closer look so we can determine next steps. Depending on priority and risk, some bugs can be fixed quickly, while others take longer to resolve. Here's more information on how we identify and tackle bugs.

I’ll let you know as soon as we have an update on this issue. Thanks so much again for letting us know about this, and I’m sorry if it’s slowing you down.
