audio files out of order

Aug 31, 2020

Sometimes I publish a scene to Review360 and one or more audio files play on the wrong slide. Specifically, I just did this and an audio that was meant to play in slide #7 instead played as the first audio in the first slide. I checked to be certain that the trigger said "play media > Audio 3 > when media completes > Audio 2" on slide #7.

I'm sure it is hard to answer questions specific to one person's situation, but what could be causing this to happen? I have a pretty good understanding of how the triggers work and what I need to check. I can't find my mistake. I'm especially concerned about an audio from one slide playing on a completely different slide.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for reaching out! That does sound like an unusual issue, but I'm glad you've reached out to our support team for help!

They'll be able to review your file and figure out what's happening behind the scenes. It looks like my teammate, Lianne, has provided some further steps on how we can review your file.

If you can't locate the .story file in your folders, when you open Storyline to edit the file, you can always do a Save As and save it to your desktop to ensure you know where it is!

HI! I am also having this issue. I inherited a project and was tasked with adding back the menu. It was originally published in SCORM 2004 2ND edition. We are now publishing 2004 3rd edition.

The published slides play audio out of order. One of them, for example, has a uniquely named .wav file audio track which plays correctly when I right click on it or when I export it. But when I preview the slide  (and publish it), the slide plays audio from a completely different part of the course: a lightbox interaction. That file is named "Recorded.mp3".

When I go to the media library i find that 41 of the audio files have the same name "Recorded.mp3." 16 have unique names and are a mix of .mp3 and .wav files.

Do I need to rename and reimport every identically named audio file? What else could be causing this crossing of wires?

Hi Vicki,

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry you're running into some audio issues with your course! In Peter's case, some corrupted audio files were causing problems.

Feel free to share your file with our support team, and they'll be able to lend you a hand in figuring out why your audio isn't playing as expected!
