Audio import - causing storyline file to be corrupt

Jun 25, 2016

We are having some trouble with a course.  It is 172 slides, 7 scenes, lots of images, and lots of audio.  The storyline file is 509 mb without audio. I know huge course. When one of our contractors is importing the audio he is saving after every slide. Sometimes during the saving process it will come back and say it can't save because the course says it is now corrupt. He can delete that slide, re import that slide add the audio again and it will save.  This is very annoying as you could imagine. I am wondering if he runs it as an admin if that would solve the problem, or if someone on here has had this issue and has a better solution.

Hi Catherine,

There is not always a particular reason or behavior that can cause file corruption and it can be difficult to pin down the reason. We generally recommend ensuring you're working on local project files, using the latest update of Storyline 2, and then if needing to recover a corrupt file you can follow the steps below:

1) Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline

2) Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.

3) Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.

4) Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.

There is no need to run Storyline as an administrator, although it does need to be installed with admin privileges.
