I've created a course in Storyline and published for the web. When I view it from a laptop, the audio is fine. When I view it on an iPad, the audio is completely distorted. I'm trying to figure out why...
I am having this issue also. I know it's years later (from original posting) and may be another problem at this point, but has anyone else experienced this recently? Sometimes the audio plays fine on the iPad and sometimes it sounds robotic/techno. Always works perfectly on PC.
As you mentioned this discussion is a bit older, but could you share a bit more information about your environment for producing and testing the courses? What version/update of Storyline are you using? What iOS are you testing on within the iPad? Is it the HTML5 version in mobile Safari or within the mobile player? Also are you hosting on a web server or LMS? When I remember folks mentioning it before a simple refresh/reload of the page within Safari seemed to resolve the odd audio behavior.
If you'd like us to take a look at your .story file we're more than happy to do so. You can attach it here using the "add attachment" button or send it along to our Support Engineers here.
Forgot to mention, the audio issue goes away when you refresh the page. This issue and refresh fix happened both on mobile safari and chrome. I had published to LMS using default settings and tested on LMS.
Ashley you are goooood. Here's the case number: 01069434 Thanks for taking a personal interest! One of the many reasons I and my team go with Articulate.
Thanks Daniel! I know I've seen this "refresh" solve audio issues before on mobile and sometimes the audio sounds like a recording of the Chipmunks. You're in good hands with our Support engineers.
Hi, Cynthia: Unfortunately, there's been no progress on this issues.
Support informed me that they've logged it as an issue but have given no
timeline for when they might get to it.
I suggest you also submit a case, if you haven't already. Perhaps you could
also mention this thread.
Same issue with us as well. Its random but it is certainly happening. A refresh of the browser fixes it, it is not a good situation to ask our customers to refresh screens. Submitted a case 01103268
We are also running into this issue. However we import MP3 files for Audio. I am wondering if the rest of you (who have had this problem) are doing the same or are you using WAV files? We are thinking about importing WAV files instead and wonder if it will fix the issue.
Hi all, I use MP3s and now get this all the time on the first play. The beginning audio or music is distorted when playing on ipad (ios10.3.3). A refresh brings it good, but it's not a great experience for users. I am also having lots of problems getting anything to work on mobile, not sure if that is just me.
Hi, Frances: If you haven't already, I urge you to submit a case. The more
people submit a case on this issue, the more likely it is to get resolved.

Thanks Daniel, I have raised a case, as my main issue is my projects not working on mobile, they all error at different points through the activity, so the user is unable to complete the activity. Support have informed me that it is the background music on my projects causing the issue, which I think could be related to the distorted audio on the first slide, on first play. I am going to test removing my background music to see if this is the fix for me. I am hoping that Articulate will fix this issue soon.

I've seen this before and I don't recall how I resolved the problem, but I'm reasonably sure it was one of:
- Using the latest release of Storyline (update 3)
- Clearing out iPad/Safari's cache and retrying the course. (Assuming you are using Safari).
Sam
Sam,
I'm using the latest release, but I tried clearing the cache in Safari and that did the trick. Thanks!
Leslie
Leslie,
Well, that's two of us that have independently run into this problem.
Articulate mentors... is this a Storyline bug? Shouldn't newer audio files overwrite what is on the cache without having to clear cache manually?
I think so!
Sam

Hi, Ashley: I'm having this issue as well. I'll open a ticket.

Hi Daniel!
I was wondering if you heard back from the support team regarding this issue?
We are facing a similiar issue on the iPad right now... and yes refreshing the page is "solving" the problem... but it is not fixing it.
So I was just curious if there was any progress on that side.
Thank you!

S KT: Thanks for doing that. I look forward to having this one addressed.

Hi, Keith: That was one of the first things I tried. Also distorted for me
on .wav and other audio formats I tried.
Looks like S KT is still working with Wilbert on this issue, so I do not have an update to provide.
Thanks, Leslie. I'm going to order a new iPad. Maybe this is just an issue on older machines. Thanks for the update, and hope things are well.
Sounds great Daniel. Yes, doing well for a Monday ;)
