Are you hearing this in the published output, or just from within the timeline? You may want to look at the information here about importing Audio files.
Thanks for replying-of course, it's the one piece of information I forgot to
include! These are audio files recorded from the mic on the computer, from
within SL2. I'm just baffled at the difference in how the output sounds
depending on where I play it within SL2.. and grateful that whatever the
cause is, it doesn't show up in audio editor or the final product.
