Sorry you've run into this! You mentioned you're on the latest version of Storyline, so we can rule that out as the culprit. 

You'll want to review the steps here to ensure you're following the import process correctly, and also confirm that your powerpoint file and .story file are both saved to your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
