Audio on Master Slide Issue

I'm having an issue with audio not playing when my file is uploaded to our LMS.

I've placed audio, an mp3 file on the Master Slide. All works fine when played locally. However, when it's uploaded to the LMS, the audio plays for about .5 seconds and then stops.

I've attached a sample file demonstrating the problem. The first slide has the audio on the Master Slide. The second slide has the audio on the slide itself. This slide plays as expected on the LMS.

I'm using SL360 and viewing the project using Chrome. It works as expected on Explorer. I've published it using HTML5 with Flash Backup and also HTML5 only and had the same results.

Is there a way to make the audio play from the Master Slide when uploaded to the LMS on both Chrome and Explorer? This would be extremely helpful as it would greatly reduce development time.

This issue is still open in Storyline 3. As soon as there is any change in this bug's status, we'll share the news here!

In the meantime, are you comfortable with sharing your Storyline file? We found a workaround of placing the audio in the slide's base layer instead of the layout and would love to see your setup for more tailored support. If you're able to share the course, please use this private link!

I had an issue just now regarding this and want to share my workaround.  I am making a trivia game with a spinning wheel, I have a question pool randomly giving me questions.

Right at the beginning of each question I got the wheel spinning sound. what was happening was it would play the sound for the first question, but when I got to question 2 the sound would no longer work, it would only play the one time on the first question.

I do not know why I tried this but I just shifted the audio on the timeline so it started, .5 seconds in instead of right at the beginning of the timeline, and now it plays for every question on the master slide.

Thank you for reaching out! 

May I ask which Storyline application you are using (360, 3)?  The reason I ask is that there still is currently an open issue for Storyline 3.
