Audio on some slides does not play after publish.

May 31, 2018

Hi everyone, I am working on an 18 course series and nearly every time I publish a course and run through it to make sure it's all working fine, one or more slides' audio doesn't play.  It's always different slide(s) each time, can't seem to find any rhyme or reason.  I just have to keep publishing and running through until by chance none of them have the issue. Frustrating.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled, all files are local to my machine...I don't have any idea why this might be happening.  Any suggestions? Am using SL3 latest build. Publishing to Web, HTML5/Flash. Testing on local machine.

Thanks!!!

Hi Cheryl.  That is frustrating, especially since it sounds like you're following all the best practices.

  • Are you making any changes between publishing, or just simply republishing?
  • Is there any difference between testing your output on different browsers?
  • Would you be able to share one of your .story files with us for testing?

Happy to lend you a hand!

Hi, Cheryl. Really sorry you're hitting a snag with the audio! I'm sure it's been frustrating trying to troubleshoot because of those inconsistencies – have no fear as we're here to help narrow down the cause.

  • Does this issue happen in all web browsers or particular ones?
  • Where did you host the published output?
  • If you have trouble with a Storyline file after you upload it to a website, try uploading the zipped output to Tempshare. If your files work as expected there, then the issue could be with the server settings.

Mind if we also take a closer look at the .story file? You can send it along right here or simply pop it into this discussion by using the Add Attachment button in your reply. I'll be standing by!
