Audio options

Jun 07, 2013

Hi everyone! I've watched the relevant tutorials and perused the forum, but I can't seem to find answers to the following questions:

1) My course is almost fully narrated. Is there a way I can make this narration optional for the learner? For example, if they want to hear it they press an icon, and if not they don't.

2) I'm struggling with sounds of different layers overlapping.  I figured out how to Pause the current media while th media for the latest layer plays, but the problem is when the student is back on the original slide the media just begins where it was stopped - and that's not usually coherent.

I hope I've provided enough details. Please help!!

Thanks in advance!

Hi Fay,

My first thought...

#1. You could set up a True False variable (start it as true) and the have the icon toggle the variable back and forth.  Then, on each slide, you could add a trigger that says play media (audio) when timeline starts IF variable = true.   This way, if learner clicks the icon, the variable toggles to false and the trigger on each slide won't play the audio.

As for #2, what is the behavior you'd like to see happen (base layer audio doesn't play?).  Using the slide layer and base layer properties, there's likely a way to accomplish whatever your goal is...but you'll need to elucidate the goal first.

Hope this helps!

Hi Mike,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I have to admit I was struggling to apply what you suggested.  This tutorial really helped though (I guess I'm still a beginner): https://player.vimeo.com/video/145579332

As for my second question, it seems to have helped to add a trigger to "stop media" to the button that closes the layer.

Thank you so much!
