Audio plays scratchy in timeline and preview but not in the Editor

When I play audio in the timeline or in preview, I hear a scratchy background noise. But when I play the audio in Editor it sounds just fine. I'm wondering if this relates to the problem I had with my PC and IT had to do a forced shutdown when Storyline was opened but saved. After that, I now seem to have this sound issue, but it's curious why it sounds fine in the Editor.  Has anyone experienced this problem and if so, how did you fix it? Thanks!
