Audio re-playing upon revisiting

Mar 16, 2021

Hello,

I have a Storyline piece that is 23 slides. All of the slides have audio that begins with the timeline. The next button is set to hide when the timeline begins, and re-appear when the audio is complete. The problem is, when a learner clicks previous, they have to sit through the full audio again before moving forward. I changed each slide from "reset to initial state" when revisiting and now they are set to "resume saved state" - but now when revisiting a slide, no audio plays and the next button is still hidden.

How can I prevent people from scrubbing through a slide and just clicking next, but also prevent them from having to sit through the audio again if they revisit?

Thanks

Kari

Hi, Kari.

Thank you for reaching out!

When you set the revisiting properties to resume saved state, the expected behavior is:

  • First time on the slide: the audio plays while the button is hidden. Once the audio is finished, the button appears.
  • When returning to the slide: the audio doesn't play, and the button is showing.

If this is not happening with your project, would you be able to share your .story file here?

I am sharing a sample file to show you this behavior and a quick Peek 360 recording.

Let me know if this works!
